THE EIGHTH AND ONE: NAME STORY REVEALED | LEWIS HAMILTON VS MAX VERSTAPPEN F1 2021 DOCUMENTARY

The Eighth And One is the name Dani Lozano, the creator of this F1 documentary, choose as the title for the video about the title fight between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton in 2021. This name was chosen for different reasons, and the name hidde a lot different secret meanings that you will can discover on this post.

The day I decided to make a Formula 1 documentary about the battle for the 2021 championship between  Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, that day, I knew a long hard process would be necessary to come to this day. The day when I announce the  project that is now a reality. in August 2021. Just in the middle of the summer break, after all what happened between Max and Lewis, I knew I had to do something about it.

THE FIRST IDEA FOR THE TITLE

First of  all, I communicated to the Patrons my intention to start to build the story and to create the documentary. Some weeks later, I announced it on Youtube. Max verstappen  vs Lewis Hamilton: Is the moment for making a new documentary. But there’s something very important that I didn’t talk about, until today: The name of the documentary. The name is mega important because it defines the story, the essence of the documentary and the legacy of one of the greatest battles in Formula 1. The first idea about the title was entirely mine, when I was starting to build the project on my mind, the first idea that came to me when I was deciding a possible title for the documentary was this one:  

The King’s Challenge. the king’s in reference to Lewis Hamilton fighting for to be the best driver of the history in Formula 1, achieving the eighth title. And the challenge is Max Verstappen. at the top, the seven starts in purple representing the seventh Formula 1 world championship achieved  by Lewis Hamilton, and the eighth star is the star that is on play in 2021, when Verstappen and Hamilton are fighting for it, and in the first version that it was made in August, during the summer break. At this point Lewis Hamilton was leading the championship and I decided to don’t fill the 8th star, to left it without color. I thought: okay, I’ll maintain the 8th star without color until the championship will be decided.

THE FINAL NAME

During the first days the name sounded great on my mind, but day by day, I felt it was not what I was searching for. That’s why I asked for help to the Patrons. I decided to open a post on Patreon to decide together the final name of  the documentary. and as you can read on the Patreon post, some people started to share their ideas, and thanks to these people, to these Patrons and my own ideas, the title cannot be much better than this one: THE EIGHTH AND ONE. And this is the final logo:

It’s much different, it’s much better in my opinion. There are eyes of the lion, representing the Max Verstappen’s animal, the lion behind the title. At the top, the eighth star is filled in color, it’s completed, in the yellow/orange color, representing Max Verstappen in this documentary, because at the end, he was the winner of the championship. In my opinion the title is amazing, first of all, because it was a collective idea of the Patrons and me. Secondly, becasue The Eighth And One has different meanings, at least, six different meanings that are hidden inside of the title mixing the words:

• [1] THE EIGHTH making reference to the possible eighth world championship Hamilton could  achieved that season ,in 2021. AND ONE making reference to the first world championship Verstappen won that season, being his first of his Formula 1 career.

• [2] THE EIGHTH is the number of world championship combined between Hamilton and Verstappen: seven for Lewis and one for Max Verstappen = eighth.

• [3] AND ONE makes reference to the first Formula 1 World Championship for Max Verstappen, also it can be interpreted as «the one» or «the only one» in  reference to Verstappen: The only one who can beat Lewis Hamilton in a non-mercedes car during the V6  turbo era.
